Residence Permits in Chile - Temporary Residence

Getting a residence permit in Chile need to be substantiated, this category contemplates the Visas that are subject to a Contract, for Students and Temporary. With the most reason to be issued residence permits valid for one year, after which you get unlimited permanent residence status in the country. At the end of five years from the date of obtaining a residence permit applicant is entitled to obtain Chilean citizenship.

Temporary Residence in Chile

The first step of legal immigration in Chile is to obtain a Temporary Residence permit. In most cases Temporary visa arranged upon arrival in Chile. The temporary visa is granted to those foreigners that can prove to have family links or interest in the country and whose residence is considered useful and convenient. In general terms it allows to perform any activity in Chile, with no more limitations that those established by the law. It is granted for a maximum period of one year, renewable until completing two years, at the end of which the foreigner must request the Definitive Residence or leave the country.
